### Newport News, VA, Awards Black Creek the Contract to Provide Integrated Security Controls in the Jail Annex
###### January 28, 2020-
The City of Newport News, Virginia, has selected Black Creek Integrated Systems Corp. to upgrade the security control system at the Newport News City Jail Adult Detention Annex with the installation of a new Black Creek Super Display® touchscreen control system. This project extends the capabilities of the existing Black Creek system already in place at the Main Jail, building upon a longstanding partnership since Black Creek installed the Super Display® Touchscreen Security System at the City Jail in 2015.
The scope of work includes replacing legacy Programmable Logic Controllers and locking relays with new GE RX3i series PLCs, installing a new Super Display® control station to replace the existing unit, and upgrading the analog intercom headend to advanced Voice-Over-IP intercom switch units while retaining existing field intercom devices. Integration of the current Bosch CCTV system with the new touchscreen platform will be achieved via dual Ethernet network connections, enabling seamless camera call-up and monitoring directly from the touchscreen station. Additionally, Bosch Video Wall software will be provided for the Newport News team to install and configure. The upgraded touchscreen control station will maintain utility control features consistent with current operations. Existing field devices, including door locks, cameras, intercoms, and paging speakers, will be re-utilized and fully integrated into the enhanced system.
