Black Creek Awarded Contract to Replace Security Control System at the Erie County Alden Correctional Facility

Black Creek Integrated Systems Corp. has been selected to retrofit the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden, NY, with the advanced Black Creek Super Display® Touchscreen Security System. The 1,070-bed, medium-security facility—originally constructed in 1985 and expanded in 1998—currently operates using a combination of analog graphic control panels and legacy touchscreen interfaces. Black Creek’s established relationship with Erie County dates back to 2010, when the County implemented the Black Creek SallyPort©NY Jail/Inmate Management System at both the Correctional Facility and the Holding Center in Buffalo.

Under this new contract, Black Creek will upgrade all existing control stations and graphic panels with state-of-the-art Super Display® touchscreen control stations powered by Windows® 10 and the latest Black Creek touchscreen software. The comprehensive upgrade includes the installation of new programmable logic controllers, control relays, security server computers, and a secure, high-speed VPN appliance to enable remote diagnostics and support. The project will also empower facility staff with portable tablet devices, enhancing mobility during direct inmate supervision. Additionally, the current analog intercom and paging system will be replaced with a modern Harding Voice-over-IP intercom platform.

As part of the security enhancements, Black Creek will install a next-generation Genetec Video Recording and Management System, complemented by new encoders and supporting infrastructure. This will facilitate a phased transition from outdated analog cameras to high-definition IP cameras, ensuring minimal disruption to daily facility operations.

The upgraded Black Creek system will deliver substantial gains in staff and visitor safety through functionality not available in the previous platform. Each Super Display® Touchscreen station features dual LCD monitors for full-facility security control and CCTV video monitoring, enabling officers to quickly access camera views, manage facility utilities, and streamline control processes. By modernizing security operations, this initiative is expected to decrease maintenance costs, increase staff efficiency, and deliver long-term operational savings for the County.
