The Huron County, OH Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Black Creek Integrated Systems Corp. to deploy a real-time detainee well-being monitoring solution leveraging Black Creek’s real-time tracking technology. The implementation will include location receivers, detainee tags equipped with integrated heart rate monitoring, servers, an enrollment workstation, and the application software. Initial deployment will cover key areas of the facility, specifically the Medical Unit, Booking Area, and Pod F. Black Creek’s Detainee Well-Being Monitoring System employs advanced Real-Time Location System (RTLS) technology, integrating purpose-built hardware and software to automatically identify, continuously track detainee locations, and capture essential physiological data in real time. Historical data is stored securely for subsequent review and analysis. Detainees selected for monitoring are fitted with secure, body-worn active RFID tags.
Each detainee is assigned a unique tag ID within the application, enabling the tags to transmit data at configurable intervals—including heart rate and movement details. The software automatically generates alarms on client workstations if a detainee’s physical activity or heart rate deviates from preset thresholds. Alarm parameters are individually configured for each tag, and proximity-based alarms are available based on customizable detainee classifications (e.g., Covid-Positive/Non-Vaccinated status). All alarm notifications include location information for rapid incident response. In addition, the PASS-5B tag is designed to resist removal and will trigger an immediate workstation alert if tampered with or detached.
