Franklin County, NY Awards Black Creek Security Control System Upgrade Project

Franklin County has awarded Black Creek Integrated Systems a contract to upgrade the Security Control System at the Franklin County Jail in Lyons, NY. Black Creek has supported the 131-bed facility since 2015, when the County first implemented Black Creek’s physical security control system to replace an obsolete Simplex system.

The upcoming project will replace existing Windows® 7 touchscreen control stations with Black Creek’s latest Super Display® touchscreen workstations, running on the newest supported Windows® operating system and control software. New touchscreen computers, digital video workstations, and servers will be provided for both the locking control and CCTV systems, while existing field devices — including door locks, intercoms, and cameras — will be reused to help minimize costs.

As part of the upgrade, Black Creek will also modernize the Bosch Video Recording & Management System with a new administrative server, iSCSI storage array, and the latest Bosch software. The existing intercom, paging, and duress systems will remain in place, with Black Creek maintaining seamless integration with the upgraded control system. To further reduce costs, current network switches and infrastructure will be reused wherever compatible.

The new Super Display® system will enhance safety and efficiency with advanced functionality not available in the existing system. Each station can feature up to three LCD monitors, providing officers with a comprehensive view of security controls, camera call-up, and live video display. Staff can easily select camera angles, control facility utilities, and manage systems more effectively.

This upgrade will strengthen security, improve staff efficiency, and reduce maintenance costs — delivering a modern, reliable platform to meet Franklin County’s current and future needs.
