September 23, 2024 – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has awarded Black Creek a contract to implement Black Creek’s Sentry Staff™ Officer Duress Monitoring System in the Washington Co. Correctional Facility located in Fort Edward, NY. Black Creek will incorporate the officer duress system into the existing integrated touchscreen-based control system previously provided by Black Creek. Black Creek has worked with Washington County since 1993, when it first installed its Super Display® Touchscreen System.
Designed as part of next-generation technology to provide the most advanced officer safety features on the market today, the Sentry Staff™ System utilizes Bluetooth technology to automatically identify and continuously monitor an officer tag in real time. Officers will be provided with belt-worn tags mapped to unique tag IDs in the Black Creek application software. When the red emergency button is depressed, an alarm is sent to the monitoring workstation(s) for rapid response. Likewise, an integral device indicator notes when the device exceeds an angle greater than 60° from vertical to alarm in man-down situations; a ‘pre-alarm’ on the device itself allows officers to prevent false alarms.
The Sentry Staff™ System will seamlessly integrate with Black Creek’s Super Display® touchscreen-based physical security control system already installed, and officer duress alarms will annunciate on the touchscreen workstation.
