Birmingham, AL – September 26, 2017 – The County of San Diego has awarded Black Creek Integrated Systems a multi-year contract valued in excess of 11 million dollars for security system upgrades and ongoing maintenance at multiple correctional facilities operated by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

Black Creek’s Super Display^® Touchscreen Systems will be installed at the Vista Detention Facility (825 beds), Rock Mountain Detention Facility (1000 beds), and George F. Bailey Detention Facility (1,380 beds), bringing the total facilities in San Diego County controlled by Black Creek systems to eight. The contract calls for Black Creek to replace the existing locking, intercom, CCTV, and card access systems at all three facilities in the first year and provide a full-time technician to service and maintain the all the facilities with Black Creek security systems installed for multiple years thereafter.

Black Creek has been working with San Diego County since 2012, with touchscreen systems installed in the San Diego Central Jail, Facility 8 Detention Facility, East Mesa Reentry Facility, and Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. The company is also in the process of replacing the security system at the East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility. The contract with Black Creek will allow the San Diego Sheriff’s Office to take advantage of the latest technological advancements in correctional security control as well as enhance safety and accountability in its daily interactions between staff, inmates and the public. Additional benefits include reduced installation and maintenance costs and improved service response times. The upgraded systems will also provide documentary evidence for use in criminal prosecutions and in the defense of liability claims against the County.
