Birmingham, AL – December 24, 2019 – Essex County has awarded Black Creek the project to upgrade the existing Security Control System at the Essex County Correctional Facility located in Lewis, NY. Black Creek has been working with the 120-bed facility since 2005, when the County implemented Black Creek’s physical security control system as well as our SallyPort© NY Inmate/Jail Management System.
The scope of the work will involve replacing the existing Video Recording and Management software with a Bosch system, furnishing and installing new video encoders to digitize video from existing analog cameras, and upgrading the video storage network and array. In addition, all security system computers and servers will be upgraded to the Windows® 10 operating system and the latest Black Creek software version, and a new GE PACSYSTEMS™ RX3i PLC system for control and annunciation of doors, intercoms, and other security devices will be implemented. Housing Units will be upgraded to allow use of mobile tablet devices for security controls; this allows officers to roam among and interact with the inmates instead of tethering them to a fixed workstation, which improves inmate behavior and office-inmate rapport. The upgrade will enable optimal performance of the touchscreen and CCTV systems and will ensure the system will be compatible with future IP camera replacements.
