Birmingham, AL – January 28, 2020 – Newport News, Virginia, has awarded Black Creek Integrated Systems Corp. with a contract to upgrade the existing security control system at the Newport News City Jail Adult Detention Annex with a new Black Creek Super Display® touchscreen control system. This system will be an extension of the existing Black Creek system installed at the Main Jail. Black Creek has been working with the City since 2015 when it installed Black Creek’s Super Display® Touchscreen Security System at the City Jail.
The scope of the work will replacement of the existing Programmable Logic Controllers and locking relays with new GE RX3i series PLCs, replacement of the existing control station with a new Black Creek Super Display® control station, and replacement of the existing analog intercom headend with new, Voice-Over-IP intercom switch units; existing intercom field units will be reused. The existing Bosch CCTV system will be integrated with the new touchscreen system via a dual Ethernet network connection for camera call-up and viewing on the touchscreen station. Bosch Video Wall software will also be provided for installation and configuration by Newport News. Utility control identical to the existing utility control will be provided on the touchscreen control station. Existing field devices such as door locks, cameras, intercoms, and paging speakers will be re-used and integrated into the new system.
