Birmingham, AL – February 19, 2021 – Black Creek has been awarded a contract to upgrade the existing Black Creek Super Display^® Touchscreen Security System at the Cayuga County Jail, located within the Public Safety Building. The Cayuga County Jail is a medium-security detention center located in Auburn, NY, that is operated locally by the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office. The Jail holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both, with most of the sentenced inmates held for less than two years. Cayuga County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service, and the Auburn Police Department, which does not have a long-term inmate facility. Black Creek has worked with Cayuga County since 2008 when the County implemented Black Creek’s SallyPort^© Jail/Inmate Management System, including Electronic Shift Log. The County added Black Creek’s Super Display^® touchscreen-based physical security system in 2013.

Black Creek will replace all existing touchscreen control stations with the latest version, utilizing the Windows^® 10 operating system and Black Creek’s latest touchscreen control software. The project also includes furnishing and installing new server computers and a new secure, high-speed VPN appliance for remote diagnostics and support via the Internet. In addition, Black Creek will also replace the existing Vicon CCTV video management system, which has been designated End-of-Life by the manufacturer, with a new state-of-the-art Bosch Video Recording and Management System. As part of the CCTV upgrade, Black Creek will also furnish and install new encoders and infrastructure that will allow the County to begin replacing existing outdated analog cameras with new high-definition IP cameras on a schedule that will minimize impact on the Jail’s daily operations.

The new Black Creek system will improve the safety of staff and visitors with its enhanced functionality that the current control system does not provide. Each Super Display^® Touchscreen station features HD LCD monitors that display all the facility’s security controls and a CCTV camera call-up and video display. An officer can easily select different camera viewpoints, control facility utilities, and more. The system upgrade will make security control easier and save the facility money by decreasing maintenance costs and increasing staff efficiency.
